Yunnan Exploration: Culture, Landscapes & Hidden Gems
China's BEST Province To Visit - Yunnan I S2, EP117
Destination:ChinaProvince:YunnanCity:Lijiang
Yunnan, China’s most diverse province, is a land of breathtaking contrasts—where snow-capped Himalayan peaks give way to lush jungles, and ancient cultures thrive amidst modern vibrance. Nestled in the country’s southwest, Yunnan is home to 26 of China’s 56 ethnic groups, each with its own language, traditions, and festivals. The result is a cultural mosaic unlike anywhere else in the country.
I began my journey in Yanjin, famously known as the “narrowest city in the world,” before making my way to Jianshui, one of Yunnan's many vibrant Muslim communities. From there, I traveled south to the borders of Vietnam and Myanmar, where the landscapes and cultures blend seamlessly with those of the neighboring countries. Continuing my adventure, I explored the birthplace of tea before heading northwest through Shangri-La, gradually approaching the edge of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
Join me on this epic trip through China's most beautiful province.
