Zhengding: Ancient Temples & Historical Sites near Shijiazhuang

Being called Changshan County in ancient times with a history of more than 1,500 years since the North Qi dynasty, Zhengding is located in the northern part of China. It is 15 kilometres north of Shijiazhuang.

The long and glorious history has left numerous magnificent cultural relics and historic sites for Zhengding. It is famous for " three great mountains, nine bridges with no water, nine floors, four towers, eight great temples and twenty-four golden memorial archways". There are five major relics under state protection, seven major relics under province protection and twenty-five relics under city and county protection. Hence,it is called" a great treasure-house of Chinese ancient buildings".

At present, there are thirteen tourist sights open to the public, such as the Longxing Temple established in the sixth year of the Sui Dynasty, the Kaiyuan Temple of the Eastern Wei Dynasty, the Linyi Temple, the Tianning Temple of Tang Dynasty, Xianwen Temple of the Five Dynasties, Zhaoyun Temple of Ming and Qing Dynasties, the shooting bases of movie and TV series- Rongguo Mansion, etc. The ancient temples and towers together with the modern amusement parks make Zhengding a popular tourist scenic spot which is the nearest to Shijiazhuang.
