The US-China relationship is a complicated one, to say the least. There's talk of war in the future, and yet we trade with each other, we visit each other, and even go to live in each others' countries. There's just some things that US and China never seem to see eye and eye on though. One of those is Xinjiang and the treatment of the Uyghur minority. China says it had to lockdown the province due to fears of terrorism, whereas the US government used the big g word and applied sanctions. But what it was like to actually be a tourist in this place? And how do the locals react to an American, both the Uyghurs and the Han? That's what we would find out.
