Rural China Backroads: Villages & Encounters

I took the slow road from Lianyungang to Nanjing, passing through small rural villages and roadside communities that most people never stop to notice. Along the way, I met strangers, watched a man draw river water with a rope and bucket, and quietly observed others playing croquet beneath the trees. Nothing dramatic happened—but the small encounters, surprised glances, and ordinary routines felt like the real story.
